Sheepie's snout was sophisticatedly windblown after he partook in some snout-air out the window of the moving Grouse.

Sheep and Wm are looking for the trail. Sheep knows where it is, but it's more fun to make Daddy figure it out.
IMG_6458.JPG
Wm puts on his special hiking boots. Sheep has his built in and wonders what the deal is with all the external equipment.

The boys are a bit doodly before they start out.
IMG_6462.JPG
They think the trail is back here, because that's where the sign is. But it's actually the other way. They get sorted out in a minute.

I go off to the cog railway. There is an abandoned engineer glove in some grass.
IMG_6466.JPG
The trees are yellow. X means... um, I guess railroad.
IMG_6467.JPG
The engineer is hookig up the piece of string that connects the carriage to the engine. The breakman pulls the string in case of emergency.

This man has an extremely colorful shirt.

The boilers are at an angle like that so that they work properly on the steep ascent uo the mountain. The big bucket thing at the back gets filled up with 1 ton of coal at a stop a little ways up the track. "RY." is an abbreviation for "Railway".
IMG_6470.JPG
The carriage is filled with tourists from all over. They're sitting still and behaving themselves because we've just started out. In a little while they'll all be jumping around in the carriange and the children will be bonking each other over the heads. The wood inside the carriage is pretty.
IMG_6471.JPG
This is the water tower a little ways up the track. Here, the fireman fills the big bucket with 1 ton of coal and the train takes on some huge number of gallons of water to power the steam engine up the mountain. This thing has a truly Victorian carbon footprint.

Peep at the leaves.
IMG_6474.JPG
There's an unattractive access road running parallel with the tracks. It's littered with various bits of construction equipment the whole way up the mountain. Wm tells me the summit is being electrified, and this is the path the wiring is taking.
IMG_6475.JPG
Bob Ross would say these are happy pine trees, but I'm not entirely sure they're enjoying being pelted with soot day in day out.
IMG_6476.JPG
The neighboring mountaints are yellow and fluffy.
IMG_6478.JPG
I keep expecting to see Sheepie bounding up one of those craggy path things.
IMG_6479.JPG
Peep peep.
IMG_6480.JPG
Pile o' mountains.
IMG_6481.JPG
The other passengers can't sit still for long. They are all hopping all over the carriage. The roof seems to have a construction particularly suited to the constant shaking and jolting.
